#13 IKT (It's Kitty Time)



I began riding as a kid doing trails, 4H, gaming and just goofing around. When I left for college, I had to sell my horses and I'd had a hole in my heart for almost 35 years. When I turned 50 and had a stable job, I was ready to check it out again. I thought I would adopt from a rescue until a friend told me of a horse of hers that she had picked up at the auction a year previous that needed training. I told her I'd come and help her train. She asked me if I would like the horse. She was herd bound and had absolutely no confidence or idea what was being asked of her. I took a look at this overweight, small horse, with burrs all through her mane and tail (forelock sticking straight up) and thought, well I can work with her and find her a new home and then get the horse of my dreams. After two months of tears and sweat and...a little wondering of why I'd taken it on...I started to see progress. 6 years later and Calico Kitty (Kitty) has become my dream horse, my team, my heart. We do trails and CMO (Competitive Mounted Orienteering) together. I also judge obstacle courses for ETS (Equine Trail Sports).
