# 4 Ravensdale Rider

joan and Buckshot
Walker and Buckshot

My name is joan burlingame (yes…all lower case…long story) and I have two critters that I love to spend time with on trails. My main ride is a mammoth mule, Buckshot. Walker, a Tennessee Walker who is mostly “retired” at age 25+, is my other trail buddy. I work long hours at Puget Sound Energy and try to spend a lot of my time off riding. Mules, being smarter than horses (but not necessarily anywhere as easy to ride) need lots of mental stimulation. I was amazed when I realize that Buckshot is extremely competitive and loves new things after the first few tries. So we trail ride, fox hunt, do amateur rodeo (sorting and penning primarily), participate in Competitive Mounted Orienteering (CMO), and extreme obstacle courses. There are over 100 horse campgrounds in Washington State and Buckshot, Walker, and I are working our way through the list. I love exploring new trails and meeting new people. I wanted to join this group to motivate me to record not only what trails I rode on which days but also how far we traveled. I am ready for the adventures!

  15. Saturday, March 16 ride with Sean and Jeannine Nelson. Jeannine rode Tennessee. 5.73 mile in Danville Georgetown. Part of the time was looking for lost mountain biker (and worried about the amount of cougar tracks we saw). Also, Sunday I rode part of the fox hunt. A young rider felt the need to go back early so I escorted her back to the club house. 2.71 miles (only! :-( ) MTD = 55.22

  16. On March 30th I went on a really short ride with my new dog, Denver, following behind Buckshot. I decided to get back home before things turned sour so we got a whole 0.52 miles in on the trail behind my house. On March 31 I rode Buckshot and ponied Tennessee around DG for 6.42 miles. Total miles this weekend 6.94. MTD = 62.16.
